Translate the notation before comparing

Decimal 2.00 returns two units including the original stake for every unit wagered. Fractional 1/1 describes one unit of profit for one unit staked. American +100 also describes 100 units of profit for a 100-unit stake. These are equivalent displays, not three different predictions.

Negative American odds show how much must be staked to make 100 units of profit, while positive odds show the profit from 100 units. Convert with enough precision and use the final accepted price on the ticket because live prices and pre-match markets can move.

Keep market type and odds format separate

A moneyline normally settles on the event winner under stated overtime or extra-time rules. A spread or handicap applies a numerical adjustment. A total settles on whether a combined statistic finishes over or under a line. Player props, quarters and periods can use different participation or overtime conditions.

Changing the display from decimal to American does not change those conditions. Confirm teams, competition, market, period and settlement wording before comparing price. If two screens label markets differently, do not assume they are equivalent because the displayed odds are close.

Use implied probability as a threshold

Decimal implied probability is 100 divided by the price. American and fractional prices can be converted first. The result is a break-even threshold embedded in the quoted price, not an objective forecast. Adding every outcome in a market often produces more than 100% because of bookmaker margin.

Check one price in all three formats

Decimal 1.80 is equivalent to fractional 4/5 and American -125 before rounding. A ₱500 stake at that price has a gross return of ₱900 and a net profit of ₱400 if it wins. Writing both return figures prevents the original stake from being mistaken for profit.

The implied probability is 55.56%, calculated as 100 divided by 1.80. That figure still includes the effect of market pricing and does not establish the event's true chance. Repeat the same conversion for every outcome before comparing a full market.
